Malaysian chess golden girl Nur Najiha Azman Hisham shows great potential after outplaying the top seed International Master Pascua Haridas in the ultimatum round 9 of the Politeknik Malaysia International Rapid Chess Open 2015 (PMSICO).
The 2 days FIDE rapid tournament was held in Politeknik Muadzam Shah, Pahang from the 3rd to 4th October and with a total of RM13,000 guaranteed prize fund, which attracted 266 local and international players including players from the Philippines. In the Polytechnic category, Mohd Shamsir Muhd Afiqal won first place with 6.5/7 points. Second and third was Chuah Jing Ing and Muhd Derman Roslie. Pahang best juniors Meor Adib Rusyaidi Ayib Rosdi and Meor Airil Rahimi Ayib Rosdi both brothers won first and second in the under-18 category.

PMSICO was organised by Polytechnic Muadzam Shah in collaboration with Polytechnic Malaysia and Sektor Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (KPT) under the Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) and Persekutuan Catur Malaysia (MCF) after the respective bodies signed an MOU in 2014, aimed to promote and develop chess sport in the Malaysian Polytechnics.
